We are student analytical training candidates at the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco in discussion with fellow students, local and visiting Jungian analysts and other people who are finding new and creative ways to apply Jungian ideas in the world beyond analysis.
The Jungian Drift podcast launched on July 1, 2026 when we began publishing twice monthly episodes on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube, Amazon/Audible and our website serviced by Buzzsprout. (In the fall of 2026 we will shift to releasing one episode per month.)

Join host Sebastian Sheldon, PhD, in conversation with his fellow candidate in analytic training at the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco, Robert Carriger, LMFT, as they explore the theoretical possibilities when Jung's concept of unconscious complexes is applied to consciousness in general. Expanding Jung's original concept of complexes to include all conscious experience leads to such surreal possibilities as full consciousness being a sort of daytime waking dream, and even points to a potential for dual centers of sentience that operate simultaneously in one mind.
This episode was our third try at recording a podcast back in 2024, an experiment with no thoughts that it would ever be published. Given the freedom to just say what he thinks without needing to worry about qualifying his ideas or citing the literature, Robert runs with it, accompanied and encouraged by fellow student Sebastian.
We hope that whatever this episode lacks in academic niceties, it makes up for in the passionate energy of the conversation: a conversation between two students wrestling with questions which really matter to them. We invite you to listen in.
